Britannia Media Team
7th February 2019

In 2018, Britannia Pharmaceuticals launched our first ever charity partnership with UK mental health charity, SANE.

This year, we are delighted to be renewing the partnership. Every penny we make from fundraising throughout 2019 will be donated to SANE – and we will be looking to beat our total from last year when we raised an impressive £5510!

Stay tuned for details of events and initiatives throughout the year.

Some of our initiatives from 2018:

Black Dog Campaign

A team from SANE spoke to us about their support services and how we can help make a difference to those suffering from mental illness in the UK. We unveiled our very own Black Dog, Buddie, who aims to raise awareness about the 1 in 4 people that will suffer from a mental illness in their lifetimes – and encourage more people to speak up and seek help.

We encouraged all employees to take part in a quiz, allowing open discussion of mental health and the challenges it presents in the workplace.

SANE merchandise and cakes were also available on the day, enabling us to kick off fundraising for the year.

Superheroes assemble at Regent’s Park

We took a team of 14 mental health superheroes to the 10K superhero run in Regent’s Park. Our superheroes trained hard in the lead up to the event with various runs taking part around Green Park. Everyone enjoyed donning their capes and we raised an impressive amount for SANE.

Employee Wellbeing Week

In May we held our first Wellbeing Week to mark the national Mental Health Awareness Week. This marked a significant milestone for Britannia, and shows how far we have come in our ability to offer a more holistic approach to supporting our employees.

Monday: We ran two introductions to yoga and mindfulness sessions highlighting the concepts of mindfulness through linking body and breath, and teaching some great ‘two-minute tools’ to relieve common desk-related musculoskeletal issues.

Tuesday: The bakers of the company (and generous other halves) donated a range of beautiful bakes for charity. BUPA and Canada Life also set-up over lunchtime to host a drop-in session, answering many queries.

Wednesday: Green Park’s biodiversity co-ordinator led two nature walks. We learnt about the history of the park, and the range of wildlife it attracts, including the new baby cygnets!

At 5pm Britannia employees transformed into quiz masters for a surprisingly competitive charity quiz night.

Thursday: Three Britannia employees held hidden talent sessions over lunchtime, with all proceeds going to SANE. These included unique knowledge on Italian language, culture, and history, convincing zombie dance moves from Thriller, and foolproof techniques to take stunning photographs.

Friday: We held a blue dress down day, matching SANE’s brand colours, with a £1 donation to SANE per employee.
