Forum Bioscience was founded in
1981, as a subsidiary of the Finnish Sugar Corporation (Cultor Ltd), to assist
their international development and create new activities in the Pharmaceutical,
Food and Animal Feed areas. The Cultor shareholding was purchased in 1991 by
the Japanese company, Ajinomoto Co. Inc. of Tokyo. Ajinomoto has a strong
research base and spends more than US $230 million per annum on research to
develop new products and technologies for the Pharmaceutical, Food and Feed
industries. Ajinomoto's worldwide sales
amount to over US $9 billion per annum.
Forum Bioscience has maintained a
steady increase in turnover and profit since their inception and currently has a
turnover in excess of £120 million, with over 120 employees.
The Forum mission is to develop niche brands and industrial value added
partnerships exploiting life sciences through dietary, therapeutic and
functional excellence by constant interchange with customers, suppliers and
consumers world-wide.
